RSS, what is it?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of data formats used for web content syndication. An RSS product is a World Wide Web resource whose content is generated automatically (except in exceptional cases) based on website updates.

Reading an RSS feed is done using an aggregator software. It must be brought the address of the desired RSS feed (for example by copy / paste) so that the aggregator connects to the sender site to check the presence of new content. If so, the RSS feed is downloaded and immediately converted to HTML for reading.

The main advantage of this technology is to easily track a flow of information without the need to go manually using a web browser. This saves the launch time of the web browser software, and the time required to download and display images from the original Web page.
