Science and technology observatory (OST)
Head of Department: Nicolas Carayol
Missions
Produce scientometric indicators and analyses of research and innovation systems in order to contribute to:
- knowledge of research and innovation activities in France and around the world,
- evaluation of research and technology transfer activities,
- evaluation of research and innovation policies,
In order to fulfil its missions, the OST takes data from a variety of sources, checks its reliability and supplements it. Improving the quality of the data it uses is a priority for the OST. This is combined with the development of state-of-the-art methods, for example for performing textual analyses of the content of academic publications or for adapting indicators.
